As we have discussed in some of our past blogs, Malawi Vision 2063 has three key pillars that guide the focus of the Vision. These three pillars are meant to build on each other to create the inclusively wealthy and self-reliant nation that they envision. In this blog, we will look at the third pillar of MW2063: Urbanisation.
Staff Highlight: Jean Nyasulu
We’d like to introduce you to our newest staff member, Jean Nyasulu. Jean is the Human Resources Manager at Orant Charities Africa. She is a great asset to our team!
1) What is your profession?
Human Resource Management
2) How do you find your profession/work related to Orant's work/aligning with Orant’s mission?
My work involves improving the effectiveness of an organization; for example, improving company morale and developing methods to ensure high performance standards, ensuring employees have the right skills and are placed in the right positions. Ensuring employees are adhering to procedures etc. With those functions, I feel to the larger extent my profession is related and relevant to the mission of Orant Charities.
3) Tell us a bit about your career journey and major accomplishments.
I started my career in People Management as Branch Manager for FINCA (microfinance firm). Thereafter, I worked as a Labour officer under the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources Management Officer under the Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture. My major achievement could be concluding 98% of stuck disciplinary cases and reducing staff turnover.
4) What motivates you? What are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about People Management and I am always motivated when my passion makes Orant to be the chosen employer to everyone.
5) How do you feel about working for Orant?
It is a great feeling to be the first Human Resources and Administration Manager and surely I will work to my full potential to create the best foundation and legacy for my role.
6) Anything else you would like to share? (What would the story be incomplete without?)
I had no idea about Orant Charities until one day Daniel shared the vacancy and he encouraged me to apply. I am glad that I made this decision. Thank you Daniel.
Welcome, Jean!
We are proud to have Jean on our team at Orant and wish her the best in all her work! To learn more about Orant’s work in Malawi, click here.
