Support Girls Education in Malawi
Why Education?
In Malawi, there is no free education beyond eighth grade. Students must pay for tuition and few students can afford it. Without a secondary education, most children will return to their villages to work on farms or get married and start a family at a young age. This path almost always leads to a life of poverty.
Orant Charities Africa works closely with a number of schools to sponsor girl students who would not otherwise be able to obtain an education. To support students beyond secondary school, we launched the Orant University Fund in 2022.
What is a Sponsorship?
We keep a record of impoverished students who have the required grades and are interested in continuing their education. Then, we work to ensure that all students who would like to study and cannot afford to are matched with donors who can pay for their schooling and basic supplies. We give the student educational materials, soap, feminine hygiene products, and more to help them focus on their education. Additionally, we monitor our sponsored students’ progress through regular site visits and stay in touch with them after graduation.
Why Do We Focus on Girls?
The situation is almost always worse for young girls. Male education is prioritized in Malawi and girls are often forgotten or purposefully mistreated. Forced child marriage is still prevalent in Malawi. Orant focuses our education funding on girls because they are the most vulnerable.

Many of Orant’s students are sponsored by individual donors. Anyone, anywhere can sponsor a student in Malawi. You can select from a large list of students-to-be of any gender and at any level of education.
