We are overjoyed to announce that 12 of our 29 students who sat for the Malawi School Certificate of Examinations have been selected to various universities! As we celebrate this milestone, we would like to share biographies of some of the students. Read today’s blog article where we share about of some of these students.
Meet our exceptional students!
Ellah Luhanga: Ellah, 18, was born in Chinyimbwa village, T/A Chikulamayembe. She lives with her father, a village farmer, in Mpherembe, Mzimba district. Ellah scored an impressive 24 points in her MSCE exams and has been selected to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resource to study Bachelor of Science in AgriBusiness Management.
Witness Nyirenda: Aged 17, Witness hails from Mzimba district. She scored 12 points and will study Medical Imaging (Radiology) at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences.
Upendo Gondwe: 18 year old Upendo, is the last-born of six siblings from Karonga district, Vuba village. Both her parents depend on farming to make ends meet. Upendo lives in Lilongwe with her sister, while her parents reside in Karonga. With support from Orant, Upendo sat for her MSCE exams from Nkhamenya Girls Secondary School, where she scored 13 points, and has been selected to Kamuzu University of Health Sciences to study Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Stayness Malinga: Stayness, 18, is the fourth-born in a family of five, from Mzimba district, Edingeni village. Her parents are farmers, and Stayness’s academic achievements have earned her a spot at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences, studying Bachelor of Commerce (Entrepreneurship).
Rachael Wame: Aged 18, Rachael, is the sixth-born of ten siblings on her father’s side and the second-born of eight on her mother’s side. After her parents’ divorce, Rachael lives with her father, a carpenter, in Salima. Depending on carpentry, her father could not afford to support her education. Orant came through for her. Rachael’s determination scored her 13 points, and she will start her university journey at Malawi University of Science and Technology, studying Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
Haward Ackim: Aged 19, Haward is the second-born in a family of three from Kasungu, Lukwa village. After his parents’ divorce, Haward lives with his mother, who relies on farming for their livelihood. Haward’s secondary school education was sponsored by Orant at Nkhatabay Boys Secondary School, and with his hard work, he scored an impressive 10 points, which has taken him to Chancellor College to study Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Veronica Mbewe: Veronica, is the firstborn of four siblings from Mchinji, Kamwendo village. Despite her parents’ struggles, the 17 year old has shown remarkable resilience and determination in her academic journey, scoring 17 points in her MSCE exams and getting selected to Mzuzu University to study Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery.
Phillip David: Phillip, 22, is the fourth-born of six siblings from Chimamba Group Village, Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa district. Phillip did his secondary school education at Natola Secondary School, with support from Orant since Form 2. Phillip excelled academically, scoring 21 points in his exams, and has been selected to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resource to study for a Diploma in Irrigation Engineering
Veronica Wyson: Veronica, is an 18-year-old from Kamwendo village in Mchinji District, As the firstborn of three siblings, Veronica’s parents struggled to provide for her education due to their unstable income. Fortunately, Orant intervened, providing financial support for Veronica’s school fees and other needs from Form 1 to Form 4. This enabled Veronica to focus on her studies, ultimately achieving an impressive 17 points in her final exams. Veronica’s hard work has paid off, earning her a spot at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences. She will pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing.
Monica Maganga: 19, Monica is the fourth-born in a family of eight. She hails from Zomba district, Komiha village. Her parents are farmers who could not manage to support her education. Orant supported her education at Nkhamenya Girls Secondary School from Form 1. After sitting for her MSCE exams, Monica scored 15 points, and her academic achievements have paved the way for her to pursue higher education at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences, studying Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Adult Health).
Patricia Benard did her secondary school education at Nkhamenya Girls secondary School where she was supported by our Education program and scored 21 points. The 20 year old has been selected to study Sociology at Chancellor College.
