Job Description
The role of the Data Officer is to be the primary responsible person for all data collection and management activities at Orant Charities Africa. The data officer will work with the program managers of Orant’s Healthcare, Water & Sanitation, Agriculture & Business, and Education programs to ensure that their programs are collecting high quality data and that the data is then properly communicated to the Country Director and Executive Director. The Data Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all programs produce regular reports in a timely manner and assist with these reports.
The Data Officer will work closely with the Orant Charities US team, especially the Operations Manager and is expected to be in communication at least on a weekly basis.
Responsibilities
- Work with clinicians to produce monthly and yearly reports on medical operations
- Work with WASH manager to maintain the water well database and produce quarterly and annual reports
- Work with Agriculture & Business program managers to ensure optimal data collection and maintenance and produce quarterly and annual reports
- Assist the Education Program Manager in the upkeep of the Student Sponsorship List
- Be a local expert on Medical Records System Mizu by Baobab
- Own and expand the Orant Mapping Initiative program
- Analyze and document business processes and problems, and develop solutions to enhance efficiencies
- Facilitate staff user training for new software
- Full system and hardware setup for deployment, including software installation, network and hardware installation at Orant Charities Africa
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree or Diploma in Information technology/Computer Science or equivalent with at least 2 year experience
- Strong Knowledge in data Communication, Linux Configuration and Computer Hardware
- Operational knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office
- Thorough knowledge of digital data, internet, and office systems
- Ability to produce high quality reports in a timely manner using Microsoft Office/GSuite
- Understanding of digital mapping or willingness to learn
- Ability to work effectively in a cultural diverse team and communicate with a wide range of audience such as medical staff, US operations and government officials
- Excellent professional command of English
- Ability to work in rural setup
Desired Skills
- Past experience in supporting and maintaining large enterprise information systems
- Database Management (SQL related), basic data analysis (Descriptive statistics, analytical statistics) skills and basic knowledge of using data analysis software
- Knowledge in health sector and project implementation
