We are thrilled to share the remarkable story of Esther Maupa, our 22-year-old sponsored student who has recently graduated with a Diploma in General Agriculture. Esther’s journey is proof that with determination and resilience, we can achieve great goals in life.
A Challenging Beginning
Esther is the second born in a family of four. Raised by a single mother who works as a salonist to make ends meet, Esther’s education journey has not been easy. The unpredictability of her mother’s income often left Esther and her siblings facing uncertainty about their education prospects. Esther recalls being chased from school several times due to unpaid fees, forcing her to spend most of her time at home while her peers continued learning. This affected her performance, putting her on the verge of dropping out of school and abandoning her education prospects.
Esther’s life took a dramatic turn when she became a beneficiary of Orant’s scholarship program. With Orant’s support, Esther was able to focus on her studies, free from the burden of worrying about school fees. This improved her overall performance, and she excelled at Nkhamenya Girls’ Secondary School, obtaining her Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) in 2018.
Then, her passion for agriculture led her to Mwimba College of Agriculture, where she pursued a diploma in General Agriculture. Orant’s Ulemu scholarship continued to support Esther’s tertiary education until she completed her studies and graduated.
A Dream to Empower Farmers
Esther’s dream is to become a change agent, empowering farmers to improve their livelihoods. Esther acknowledges, “Without Orant’s support, I would not have been able to achieve my goals. I also want to impact other lives.”
