Introducing Mphatso Chembekeza, our new Grants Officer
- What is your profession?
I am a Resource mobilisation/ fundraising specialist for Non-Profits proficient in program development, monitoring and evaluation and grant management.
- How does your work relate to Orant’s work?
OCA is serving in Malawi through the thematic areas of Healthcare, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education, Agriculture, Business Development, and Energy and Environment. As the Grants officer, I support Orant Charities Africa in expanding and diversifying its institutional donor portfolios and also to develop grant proposals in coordination with management so as to ensure smooth running of current and prospective programs.
- Tell us a bit about your career journey and major accomplishments.
I am a seasoned resource mobilisation professional that has worked with various organisations locally and internationally, in the development sector in the capacities of project officer, and as the fundraising and resource mobilisation focal person. I have henceforth proficiently led in the development of compelling proposals that resulted in significant financial support from reputable organisations including USAID/Alliance for Bioversity & CIAT, UNICEF, US Embassy (Mw), GIZ, OSISA, British Council (Sri Lanka), MasterCard Foundation and World Bank/PPPC.
- What motivates you? What are you passionate about?
I am an intermediary between the much needed resources and the sustainable impact programs within my community. My skills and experience are but a ripple towards a collaborative effort accumulated from the best of my abilities, those of my colleagues and the community at large.
- How do you feel about working for Orant?
I am excited to be part of this progressive organisation that is at the core of providing sustainable and holistic programming at the community level in rural areas of Malawi.
- What’s something that you are looking forward to accomplishing in your role soon?
Working with the management to develop the fundraising strategy for the upcoming years.
