What You Need to Know about Orant Ulemu Scholarship
This week, we opened our Orant Ulemu Scholarship applications. This scholarship is one of Orant Charities Africa’s flagship education initiatives, aimed at supporting exceptional students in Malawi who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and financial need. Whether you are hearing about our Ulemu scholarship for the first time or are preparing to apply, we have put together this blog article to guide you through everything you need to know, including answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
What is the Orant Ulemu Scholarship?
Ulemu means ‘respect’ in Chichewa. Respect is an important word for Orant. It is one of our values, it describes how we should treat one another and denotes the respect awarded to those that continue their education against all odds, as the recipients of this scholarship are meant to do. The Orant University Fund was created in 2021 to help successful and passionate Malawian students to continue their education after secondary school. After seeing the success of our secondary students, we knew we needed a way to continue investing in the education of hardworking, intelligent, Malawian youth.
