OCA serves through healthcare and implementing development programs. Job Opening - Security Guard
Title: Security Guard
Reports to: Assistant Facilities Coordinator
Age: 25 -45 years
Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible and vigilant Security Guard to safeguard our premises, staff, and property. The successful candidate will ensure the safety and security of all operations at Orant Charities Africa.
The job holder is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities;
- Securing premises and personnel by patrolling property on a regular basis.
- Managing access points (limits or permits access accordingly).
- Seeking appropriate assistance when a security situation arises beyond his/her control or ability to manage
- Preventing losses and damages by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures and restraining trespassers.
- Controlling traffic by directing drivers.
- Managing crowds to ensure order during clinics.
- Completing reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses and obtaining signatures.
- Complying with legal requirements.
- Supporting grounds management by enforcing Orant Charities Africa’s policy on clean grounds and landscaping.
- Appropriately handing off responsibilities to incoming shift worker.
- Appropriately welcome guests and guide them accordingly.
Qualifications
- Must have Malawi School Certificate of Education.
- Those with 2 years of experience in security will have an added advantage.
- Good understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends and holidays
- Fluent in both Chichewa and English
- Physically fit
Job Opening - Groundskeeper
Title: Groundskeeper
Reports to: Assistant Facilities Coordinator
Age: 25 – 45 years
Job summary
Orant Charities Africa is seeking a reliable and hardworking Groundskeeper to maintain the organization’s outdoor facilities, including gardens, lawns, and walkways. The ideal candidate will ensure that the grounds are clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing, contributing to a healthy and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
The job holder is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities;
- Gathering and removing litter.
- Working with the Assistant Facilities Coordinator to maintain a campus waste program.
- Maintaining all ground equipment and ensuring that it is accounted for, kept clean and appropriately used.
- Caring for established landscaping by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and exterior walls.
- Planting and trimming lawns, trees, bushes, hedges, and shrubs using appropriate tools.
- Mixing and spraying or applying fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers .
- Landscaping new and repairing damaged ground areas; replacing bushes, hedges, shrubs, and trees as needed.
- Planting and maintaining the Orant Charities Africa Agroecology garden.
- Irrigating plants on a regular schedule using appropriate water management practices to ensure availability of water to the clinic, maternity, and residents.
- Working with all programs to ensure they are adhering to Orant Charities Africa’s policy on clean grounds.
- Monitoring the grounds on a regular basis and reporting to the Assistant Facilities Coordinator any unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property and grounds.
Qualifications
- Must have Malawi School Certificate of Education.
- Those with 2 years of experience in grounds keeping / agriculture will have an added advantage.
- Knowledge of gardening tools and equipment
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Fluent in both Chichewa and English
- Physically fit.
