16 Days of Activism: Empowering Women and Girls to Rise Strong in the Digital World
When Women Go Digital, They Go Further
In our villages, women are rewriting their stories through entrepreneurship. But as businesses go online, success depends on more than just skill and hard work as it requires digital confidence. Our Business Development Program has transformed how women do businesses by equipping them with powerful digital skills.
Apart from the trainings that equip our women entrepreneurs with general knowledge on how to run and manage businesses, we also provide them with digital literacy trainings, equipping them with skills to:
- Use mobile money safely
- Advertise their products on WhatsApp, Facebook, and other platforms
- Identify digital scams and fake opportunities
- Protect their personal information
- Recognize the signs of digital abuse and avoid exploitation
The results are inspiring. Women who once feared touching a smartphone now run thriving online marketplaces. They track sales digitally and manage their finances confidently. They negotiate with suppliers through digital platforms, and most importantly, they stay safe while doing it.
“The digital skills trainings have been very important in equipping me with the knowledge to advertise my business online. I can now post photos of my work after styling clients’ hair, which attracts many new customers. I’m also able to detect and avoid scams and illegitimate online accounts.” Says Stella Kalimbakatha, one of our women entrepreneurs.
Empowerment Is Our Resistance
This year, as we join the global movement for the 16 Days of Activism, we celebrate the courage of every woman and girl who is learning to navigate technology safely. We celebrate our women entrepreneurs who no longer fear the digital space but use it to grow their income.
And we celebrate a future where women and girls, no matter where they live, have the knowledge, voice, and confidence to claim their rightful place in every space, including the digital world.
Together, we can end digital violence. Together, we can create safer online communities.
