Position: Lead Development Officer

The Lead Development Officer must operate remotely and independently while collaborating with a small international NGO team. Since the team is small, the Lead Development Officer must wear many hats. They will plan and implement campaigns and events, participate in the grant application process, and regularly assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies. They will not only lead Orant’s fundraising efforts, but also participate in the hands-on aspects of fundraising such as sending out mailers, contacting donors, and owning and operating Orant’s CRM.

Job Requirements:

  1. Oversee and direct all Orant fundraising operations
  2. Own CRM (DonorPerfect) and ensure its maximum benefit
  3. Assess current fundraising to prepare for program rebuild
  4. Develop and maintain annual fundraising plan and calendar with goals and objectives
  5. Lead creation of Orant fundraising strategy to maintain and increase contributions through current and future donors
  6. Lead OCUS personnel and Board in fundraising efforts in accordance with the plan and strategy
  7. Expand institutional and corporate partnerships
  8. Develop major donors
  9. Assist in regular marketing functions
  10. Prepare quarterly fundraising reports
  11. Work closely with the rest of the Orant team through systems described below
  12. Travel to Malawi at least once and maintain a connection with, and an understanding of Orant Charities Africa operations
  13. Perform other job duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

  1. Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience
  2. Background in development, planning, and fundraising
  3. Knowledge of grant writing
  4. Ability to develop systems to provide follow-up and feedback of potential donors
  5. Driven, go-getter personality
  6. Excited by a collaborative work environment
  7. Interest in Africa and development causes
